How the Fort Huachuca School District Provides Gifted and Talented Services: 

 

⭐The Gifted model consists of both pull-out and core teacher collaboration services depending on student need.

 

⭐Regular Classroom Differentiation: Flexible grouping, Differentiated Curriculum. Instructional Strategies which Differentiate include: Compacting, Contracting, Pre-testing, Modification of content, process, products, Learning Centers, Critical thinking skills, Use of Multiple Intelligences to provide choices.

⭐Programming Beyond Regular Classroom: Pull-outs focused on Project Based Learning (PBL) to assure interdisciplinary curriculum and curriculum extensions.

 

⭐Other services may include: Group Guidance for Social/Emotional Support, Independent study, Co-curricular/extra-curricular/electives/ Clubs/Organizations, Leadership/Athletic, and/or Fine Arts Workshops.

Nadia Westen, the District Gifted Teacher, works with each school site to ensure the gifted students are participating in project based learning, challenging students to increase skills in the 4C’s- collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication. Mrs. Westen has been teaching gifted education since 2013. Her philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way, one of the jobs of gifted education is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside them to maximize it.
